Horseshoe Tournament Anyone?

A shout out to anyone interested in the horseshoe tournament - please give our Chief, Paul Mutschler a call or stop by and see him at Greasewood Flat.  Please call if you're interested in competing or in helping to organize and run the tournament... or both.  We are asking folks to be in touch early this year or.... we might not have a tournament!

We're estimating it to take place Saturday, September 25th.

Also, a heads up that we'll be starting our monthly meetings again the first Sunday of each month.  Our next meeting is Sunday, September 5th at 1pm at Greasewood Flat.  Don't worry....we'll remind you again and jot you an email.

A Good Time Had By All at the Fall Horseshoe Tourney '09!

It's been about a month but the memories still linger from this year's GFVFD Horseshoe Tournament.  Amid the dust and the beers we saw some great pitching and an impressive amount of ringers.

A hearty congratulations to the winners, Brad and Rex.  Our First Place winners enjoyed $200 in prize winnings and a stunning pair of Mozkito Sandals each.

Second Place winners, Elgin and Elgin, received $140.  No sandals for them.

Our Third Place winners, Hard Knox, received $60.

Fall Horseshoe Tourney '09!!!!

Hello all you brave volunteers!  It's that time of year when we dust off our tossing arms and gear up for some (mostly) friendly competition.  Do you have what it takes to be the GFVFD horseshoe throwing champion?  If so, copy down this information you beer drinking, whiskey bottle throwing son of a gun!!!

Where: Greasewood Flat
When:  Saturday, October 17 (Trials)  ---  Sunday, October 18 (Finals)
Entrance Fee: $40.00  (Note: this includes a shirt, burger, and doorprizes)

CASH PRIZES FOR THE TOP THREE TEAMS!!!

This year's tourney preliminary rounds are Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd.

Final rounds will be held Saturday March 28.

If you have not yet signed up, here's the entry form....if you're not into throwing, come on up and cheer on the contestants...and maybe have a couple - three beverages in the process.

GFVFD Upcoming Events!!!

Horseshoe Tourney - March 21st, 22nd, and 28th.

Cave Creek Fiesta Days Parade - Saturday, April 4th - Please contact Paul (the Chief) or Kay Klein (Parade Chair) if you would like to ride or join the decorating committee. There will be a BBQ / decorating party at Stan's on Thursday, April 2nd starting around 4pm. BYOB and the Fire Dept. will buy the burgers and dogs.

Golf Tourney - The date has been set for May 7th, tee time will be at 7:30am.

Horseshoe Tournament Results

1st Place: Cover That Turd.  They won $200, 2 gift cards to Pane e Vino
Restaraunt, and a whole box of their favorite flavor of Slim Jim. They chose
to take part of their winnings and join the GFVFD.

2nd Place: Soggy Bottom Boys (Sam and JD, both members of the GFVFD).  They
won $120 and 2 gift cards to Pane e Vino.

3rd Place: Preskitt Boys.  They won $80 and two gift cards to Pane e Vino. 

March 2008 Horseshoe Tournament

Oh boy!  It's that time again! 

Warm up you pitching arms and put your game face on, the March '08 horseshoe tourney  is coming down the pipe.  On March 1st and 2nd, thirty-two teams will compete to get in the finals, which are held on March 8th.  Click on the link below to get all the fun facts and cool information.
