At long last, photos have been posted from our "Save the Boobs & Help the Earth" event at Rare Earth Wine & Pizza Bar in June which helped members Laura & Jess Hunter raise funds for their participation in the Susan G. A success deserves many thanks

Our event at Rare Earth Pizza & Wine Bar was fabulous and a true success!  We'll post pictures soon and let you know how much we raised for the cause - please be patient.

Thank you to our Chief, Paul Mutschler, and Fastsigns Airpark http://www.fastsigns.com/108 who donated their labor for the "Light the Way to the Cure" light board that will be down at Greasewood for the next five months.  C'mon down and donate to light a bulb in honor of someone you love.  Awwww.

...to Save the Boobs & Help the Earth.  Make your reservations now!  The event takes place tomorrow,  Sunday, June 27th, 12 - 4pm at Rare Earth Pizza & Wine Bar right at the corner of Dynamite and Alma School.

We have a select menu set and a portion of all menu items and all gratuities will go toward the cause.  We also have a raffle with some great prizes donated by local businesses.  C'mon down and support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure by eating pizza and drinking wine - you can do it!

It's less than two weeks away.  The event is lunch and drinks with friends at Rare Earth Wine & Pizza Bar.  The cause is raising money for two of our own and their participation in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure.  It will be a great time for a great cause so make your reservations now!

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure and Two of Our Own

Please welcome two of our newest members, Laura and Jessie Hunter, to our GFVFD family.

Laura and Jessie are participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure this November, "a 60-mile walk for those who want to make a personal difference in the fight to end breast cancer.  Net proceeds fund innovative global breast cancer research and local community programs supporting education screening and treatment."

This is not only an incredible undertaking, but a personal one as Laura has recently battled breast cancer.  Her daughter, Jessie, suggested the walk and though 60 miles in three days is daunting, she realized if she was strong enough to fight this disease over the past year, she was strong enough to walk to raise money towards a hope that of bettering the odds for everyone facing the same fight.

Laura and Jessie have to raise $2,300 each to participate.  We encourage you to support them in this journey.  Any amount you're able to donate would be appreciated, it is tax deductible, and every $5 donation counts!

We will also be working to come up with a fun GFVFD summer event to help raise funds toward their walks.  Ideas are welcome!  Please email edensilver@gmail.com with suggestions or if you would like to help in the planning.

We all celebrated mother's day yesterday.  Let's support this cause which works toward the hope that our mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, daughters and fabulous female friends are all with us to celebrate again next year.
